Election results: Scalise, Deakins head to runoff for Republican nomination in county judge race, and more

Two Republican candidates for county judge will head to a runoff after a close primary election on Tuesday.

Mark Scalise and Patrick Deakins each failed to reach the threshold of either 50% of votes or winning by 20% of votes needed to avoid the runoff in the four-person race, and will face off again June 21. Sharon Lloyd and Tom Terminella finished third and fourth in the voting.

The winner of the nomination will face Josh Moody, who secured the Democratic nomination for the judge position with 69% of the vote.

Fayetteville voters approved an extension of the school millage tax, as did voters in Elkins, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Lincoln, West Fork, and Springdale.

Primary turnout was low, with just 29,571 of 129,495 (21%) registered voters casting votes. A total of 9,311 ballots were cast on the Democratic ticket, and 20,048 voters selected the Republican ballot in the primary.

Full, unofficial vote tallies for contested races in Tuesday night’s primary are below. Please note, these are only results of Washington County voters, and do not include tallies from statewide races.
