The Beaver Watershed Alliance and the NWA CastMasters will host a youth-focused fishing tournament on Saturday, June 25 at the Prairie Creek day use area on Beaver Lake.

Youth anglers (ages 4-15) will fish for bass, crappie and bream species. Over $5,000 in prizes and giveaways are available for the biggest fish in each category and most weight in each category.

Boats will launch at 7 a.m. and weigh-in starts at 12 p.m. During the weigh-in, a raffle will be held, and a free hot dog lunch will be given out to youth and families participating.

Registration is $50 per team, which includes a captain and up to two youth per boat. Registration is available online at www.beaverwatershedalliance.org/youth-fishing-tournament/. Rules, regulations and a waiver form are also available online. Registration packets will be located at Hook/Line/& Sinker in Rogers and SouthTown Sporting Goods in Fayetteville.

The youth-focused fishing tournament also serves as an educational event and fundraiser for youth programming and watershed stewardship for the Beaver Lake watershed area.

Cash donations and sponsorships, in-kind goods and products, gift cards, and goodie bag giveaways will be accepted through June 17.

Beaver Lake supplies one out of every six Arkansans – about 500,000 people – with clean drinking water and provides recreational areas.

“This event will be a unique way to engage youth, angler communities, and families in the outdoors and learn about our local water supplies, and how we can take care of them,” said Becky Roark, executive director for the Beaver Watershed Alliance. “Overall, we want youth anglers to be safe out there, but also learn about water and have fun on Beaver Lake.”
