The Fayetteville animal shelter will offer free adult dog adoptions through June 11.

The shelter is currently housing about 20 adoptable dogs, officials said, and have decided to offer free adoptions to make room for new arrivals.

“We have some dogs who have been waiting a long time for that perfect person to come through the doors, and we want to make adoption everyone’s first choice,” said Valerie Gray, a shelter attendants in charge of adoptable dogs. “We spend so many hours with these dogs and get to know them really well.”

All available dogs and puppies will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated prior to going home with their new owners.

The adoption process starts online with an application form. Once approved, applicants are invited to visit the shelter and choose a dog.

The shelter is located at 1640 S. Armstrong Ave. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
