Fayetteville-based restaurant chain Slim Chickens this week announced new partnerships with athletes from the University of Arkansas to help promote the restaurant through “community projects, campus events, and charitable events” at their locations.

The restaurant will team up with linebacker Bumper Pool from the UA football team, guard MaKayla Danieles from the women’s basketball team, Jensen Scalzo from the gymnastics team, and track athletes Ayden Owens (Decathlon) and Britton Wilson (sprinter/hurdles).

The athletes will also be part of a new Student Athlete Council in partnership with the brand.

“I am excited to be a part of a renowned Arkansas brand,” said Bumper Pool, chairman for the new Student Athlete Council, in a press release issued this week. “This is a new and different way to be involved in the Fayetteville community, and I can’t wait to make Slimthusiasts out of more students at Arkansas.”

Partnerships like this have only recently been allowable as part of new NCAA rules that allow college athletes to profit off their own name, image, and likeness (NIL).

“There’s nothing quite like Arkansas sports, except maybe Slim Chickens, and we know this partnership is going to be a lot of fun,” said Slim Chickens CMO Chris Allison. “This is a talented and hardworking group of young adults, and we can’t wait for them to be ambassadors for Slim Chickens. We’re looking forward to some great events over the coming months.”

Details about specific community projects and charitable events will be announced at a later date, officials said.
