Weekend Flyer: Wonderfuzz, Mixtapes, Silent Disco, and more

Hope y’all know where all the good swimming spots are, or have one of those battery operated fans attached to a spray bottle, everyone. It’s hot. Probably should start the weekend by drinking a big glass of water.

After that, wow about some music? George’s will kick things off with a Bob Seger Tribute for happy hour Friday night, followed by local party band, Mixtapes. On Saturday, they’ve got local cover act Cole Birminghan Band, and they have a Sunday show this weekend as well with California rockers, Trapt.

JJ’s Live has a couple DJ shows this weekend as well, with Emo Night Brooklyn on Friday night and Gimme Gimme Disco on Saturday.

Speaking of dance parties, Likewise is hosting one where you can be your own DJ. The venue will host a Silent Disco this weekend, where attendees are encouraged to bring their own headphones and dance the night away to their own tunes. Here’s a bit more about that.

Local recording studio Homestead Recording is back, and they along with local photographer Stephen Ironside will host an open house this weekend at their shared space at 7 E Mountain. Austin-based musician Tyler Jordan will perform at the event.

Smoke & Barrel Tavern has a cool show on Friday night with Kansas City indie-pop act, Wonderfuzz, and locals The Rumors, Misdemeanors and Bellwether Sirens will play the Saturday night show.

Mojo’s East has music Friday night with Dave Bright Band returning for a show on their stage.

TheatreSquared has a couple shows happening right now, with Miss You Like Hell wrapping up their run, and a new basketball-related show called Flex now playing. Here’s ticket info for those shows.
