Arkansas man wins $25,000-a-year-for-life prize in state lottery

  • By Todd Gill · Thursday, Aug 4, 2022
(Arkansas Scholarship Lottery)

An Arkansas man has won a prize that was worth $25,000 per year for the rest of his life.

Edrick Tan of Austin, Ark. won the prize after purchasing a $2 Lucky for Life lottery ticket on the Jackpocket app for the July 21 drawing, according to Kara Lee Ford, campaign coordinator for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

Tan elected to take the immediate cash option for his prize, which was worth $390,000.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 19, 24, 25, 29 and 31, with the Lucky Ball being 8. Tan matched the first five numbers without the Lucky Ball.

Tan said he rarely plays the lottery, and only recently downloaded the app.

“I play the lottery maybe once or twice a year, however, this was my first purchase through the app,” Tan said. “Despite receiving an email and phone call from Jackpocket stating that I won the second-tier prize, I didn’t think the win was real until I came to claim my winnings.”

Tan said he plans to save and invest for his children with his prize.

In other lottery news, someone is holding a Natural State Jackpot ticket worth $75,000, according to a news release. The winning ticket was sold at Jordan’s Kwik Stop in Arkadelphia for last Thursday’s (July 28) drawing. The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize.
