ARREST MADE: Police investigating shooting at Washington County Fair

UPDATE: Fayetteville police on Sunday said a 16-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting, and charged with aggravated assault, first degree battery, second degree battery, aggravated riot, engaging in violent criminal group activity, second degree endangering the welfare of a minor, and second degree criminal mischief. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are investigating a shooting that took place during the Washington County Fair on Friday.

Fayetteville officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 10:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds at 2537 N. McConnell Ave., according to a news release. Washington County officers were already on the scene, the release stated.

One victim was located and transported to a local hospital.

Police said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident, and not a random act of violence.

As of 11:30 p.m. Friday the suspect had not yet been located (see update above). The investigation is ongoing.

It was the second shooting in two days in Northwest Arkansas. A man died Thursday after being shot in Bentonville just south of the downtown area. A third shooting was reported early Sunday at a club in Springdale.
