A popular central Arkansas restaurant group will soon open their first Fayetteville location.

Yellow Rocket Concepts, the group behind Lost Forty Brewing, Local Lime, Big Orange, and other restaurants, on Tuesday announced plans to open a Fayetteville Taco & Tamale later next year.

The group operates a handful of restaurants around the region, including the Big Orange and Local Lime restaurants in Rogers, and the Bentonville Taco & Tamale that opened up north in the spring.

The concept coming to Fayetteville is a version of the chain’s Height’s Taco & Tamale restaurant that originally opened in Little Rock in 2015.

The restaurant joins Memphis-based Central BBQ as the second commercial tenant to be announced at the new South Yard development, located on the property formerly home to Farmers Cooperative at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South School Avenue.

South Yard will reuse four existing buildings on the property, and developers plan to offer restaurants, entertainment, small office, retail space, and a park on the property, along with 128 new apartments called South Yard Lofts that are already available for lease.

“Fayetteville Taco & Tamale’s focus on local, seasonal ingredients is the perfect fit for the Fayetteville community and fits within the vision behind South Yard.” said Jeremy Hudson, CEO of Specialized Real Estate Group in a press release issued Tuesday. “The restaurant will be easily accessible through the Razorback Greenway and is another important partner in our effort to inspire connection through neighbors and nature.”

If all goes well, Fayetteville Taco & Tamale will open sometime in the spring of 2023.
