A fire broke out early Wednesday at the former Arsaga’s at the Depot coffee shop and restaurant in downtown Fayetteville.

Firefighters were dispatched to the building at 548 W. Dickson St. at 2:14 a.m., according to city dispatch logs.

As of Wednesday morning, yellow fire line tape surrounded the charred exterior of the structure, and the smell of burnt wood was strong around the outside of the building along Frisco Trail.

The restaurant has been empty since August 2021 when Arsaga’s closed the Depot location. The company still operates five locations in Fayetteville on School Avenue, Center Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the University of Arkansas campus and the Fayetteville Public Library.

The building sits immediately west of the construction site for a new municipal parking deck at the northwest corner of Dickson and West Avenue.

UPDATE: Capt. Andrew Horton, the Fire Department’s public information officer, said there were no injuries during the fire and that an investigation into the incident is underway. As for the nearby construction site, the deck contractor said there was no damage to the parking structure, materials or equipment.
