John R. Tyson, chief financial officer for Tyson Foods, was arrested Sunday morning on charges of public intoxication and criminal trespassing after a Fayetteville woman reported that she returned to her home and discovered a man sleeping in her bed.

Tyson, 32, was booked into the Washington County detention center at 2:23 a.m. Sunday and released at 8:39 p.m. on a $415 bond, according to information from the county jail. Tyson’s court date is set for Dec. 1.

A preliminary arrest report showed that police were called to 445 N. Mock Ave., two blocks north of Dickson Street, shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. The woman told police she did not know the man who was asleep in her bed, but said he could’ve gotten inside after she left the front door unlocked before leaving.

Once inside, officers found Tyson asleep in a back bedroom with his clothes on the floor. He was identified by officers who found his driver’s license.

Police woke Tyson up, but he could not verbally respond, according to the report. After briefly sitting up, Tyson laid down and attempted to go back to sleep. Officers said an odor of intoxicants was coming from Tyson and he appeared sluggish and uncoordinated.

Tyson was named CFO of the Springdale-based company in September. He is a fourth-generation Tyson family executive.
