Snowfall expected in Fayetteville Monday night

Residents in Fayetteville should expect to see snowfall Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa.

Forecasters on Monday issued a winter weather advisory for the area from 3 p.m. to midnight.

The service said rain will transition to snow around sundown with 1-2 inches of accumulation expected.

Fayetteville Public Schools cancelled all athletic events for Monday, but officials said a decision has not yet been made on whether to cancel classes on Tuesday.

If schools are closed, the District will use a state-approved AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) day with students receiving assignments through Google Classroom. An AMI day counts as a school day and does not require students and staff to make up the day later in the school year.

Fayetteville Virtual Academy students will follow their standard online procedures in the event of a school closure.
