The Arkansas men’s and women’s basketball teams this week each signed an ESPN 5-star recruit for the 2023 class.

The men’s team on Tuesday signed Baye Fall, a 6-11 center who’s ranked No. 20 in the ESPN 100. He’s the 3rd-ranked center in the nation, according to ESPN, and is listed as the No. 1 overall player out of Colorado.

Fall becomes the fourth ESPN 5-star recruit to join the program in the past two years, along with Anthony Black, Nick Smith Jr. and Jordan Walsh.

Fall’s signing came just days after the team announced that Layden Blocker has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the team for the 2023-24 season. Blocker is a 6-2 point guard who’s ranked No. 22 in the nation by ESPN. He’s the 6th-ranked overall point guard and is listed as the No. 1 player out of Arkansas, according to ESPN.

The women’s team on Wednesday signed 5-star Taliah Scott, a 5-9 guard who’s ranked No. 11 in the ESPN 100. She’s the 5th-ranked guard in the nation, according to ESPN, and is listed as the No. 1 overall recruit out of Florida.

Scott was recently named to the preseason watch list for the 2023 Naismith High School Trophy.

She joins ESPN 4-star forward Jenna Lawrence, 5-8 guard Carly Keats and 5-8 combo guard Maryn Archer, as signees for the 2023 class.
