Mount Sequoyah Center kicks off ‘Festival of Trees’ fundraiser Nov. 27

A new event to raise funds to renovate the historic Parker Hall and help preserve the campus at Mount Sequoyah kicks off next week.

The fundraiser, called NWA Festival of Trees, begins Nov. 27 and runs through Dec. 10 this holiday season.

During the event, sponsors will set up their decorated trees and wreaths in the main room of Parker Hall on campus beginning on Sunday, Nov. 27. Throughout the holiday season, the donated items will be auctioned during public showings and other activities taking place on the mountain. Awards will be given for the People’s Choice, and Kids Choice category as well.

Officials are still seeking locals to decorate and donate a tree or wreath, along with monetary donations toward the cause, and volunteers to help staff the celebration.

Proceeds from Festival of Trees will go toward the renovation of Parker Hall, a two-story dormitory on the Mount Sequoyah Center campus constructed in 1924 that hosts retreats, weddings, celebrations, fundraisers, Camp Sequoyah, and more.

The Festival of Trees will culminate with a cocktail party from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 10 to kick off Mount Sequoyah’s 100 years celebration.
