Emergency warming shelters available in Fayetteville during extreme cold

(Genesis Church)

Emergency warming shelters are available for those who have no place to stay warm during extremely cold weather in Fayetteville.

An overnight shelter is located at Genesis Church at 205 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The church open the overnight shelter when the wind chill temperature is 15 degrees or below and when the Salvation Army reaches its capacity.

Guests can check into the overnight shelter at 6 p.m. and receive a warm meal along with access to cots, blankets, pillows and a storage bin.

The overnight shelter closes at 6 a.m. and guests may then take a free shuttle to the 7Hills Homeless Center‘s daytime warming shelter where they will receive coffee, breakfast, lunch, and access to winter clothing and bathrooms.

Anyone in need of shelter should visit one of the two locations or call 211 for information on transportation.

The overnight shelter is a collaboration between 7hills Homeless Center, Genesis Church, New Beginning Bridge Housing Community and NWA Continuum of Care with funding help from the City of Fayetteville.
