Students were already out for the holidays anyway, but the University of Arkansas went ahead and closed up shop for the day on Thursday as well due to the winter weather in the area this week.

UA officials announced the closure on Wednesday.

Due to anticipated inclement weather, the University of Arkansas will be closed Thursday, Dec. 22. All on-campus operations, including Razorback Transit, Mullins Library, the Arkansas Union and University Recreation/HPER will be closed.

According to the national weather service, a winter weather advisory is in effect until noon on Friday, Dec. 23. The forecast calls for 1-2 inches of snow Thursday, with temperatures reaching as low as -3 F overnight with windchills near -20 F.
