The city’s Recycling & Trash Collection division will collect live Christmas trees through the month of January at no charge.

Residents can place live trees by the curb on their regular trash collection day, or take them to the city’s compost facility, located at 1708 S. Armstrong Ave.

The compost facility is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 8 a.m. until noon on the first Saturday of the month.

Trees must be free from all plastic bags, stands, decorations, lights, and tinsel before they will be collected. No artificial trees will be accepted.

The city will accept light strands for recycling at the Marion Orton Recycling Center (735 W. North St.) through the month of January.
