Warmer temperatures expected this week along with strong winds and possible rain

Northwest Arkansas is expected to see warmer temperatures for the remainder of the week with high winds on Wednesday and a chance of showers on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures should reach the mid-50s on Wednesday and mid-60s on Thursday, with highs near 60 on Friday and Saturday, forecasters said.

South winds will increase in intensity with gusts up to 40 mph possible on Wednesday, followed by a slight potential for rain Thursday afternoon and evening. Severe weather is not expected.

Forecasters are calling for partly cloudy weather with a low around 41 Saturday night for New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Day should be mostly sunny with a high near 62.

A strong storm system is expected to move into the Plains on Monday that could bring thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and severe weather to the area.
