It happened again. It was Tuesday like 20 minutes ago, we blinked, and now it’s time for another weekend. Oh well. We’ll take it.
The work of Fayetteville photographer Andrew Kilgore will be on display at a new exhibition at Walton Arts Center beginning Friday night. The exhibition features 100 portraits of Arkansans curated by local artist Kathy P. Thompson from Kilgore’s archive of over 750,000 images. It kicks off with an opening reception at the Walton Arts Center’s Joy Pratt Markham Gallery. Here’s more about that.
American Shaman Kava Bar will host an artist showcase event on Friday night as well featuring the work of Rogers-based artist Kinya Christian, music by DJ Stoker, and more.
George’s will kick off their weekend with a supergroup of talented local female musicians called Divas on Fire for happy hour. On Saturday, they’ll host St. Louis-based roots/reggae band Aaron Kamm & and One Drops, and they’re planning a tribute to the late great Ronnie Hawkins by artist Tony Redman on Sunday night. Here’s ticket info.
Also in tunes, Walton Arts Center has a roots/country/rock show featuring artist Lilly Hiatt on Friday night. The show is part of their West Street Live series, and last we heard it was close to selling out. If any tickets remain, here’s where to get them.
Also at the WAC, SoNA is set to perform William Grant Still’s Mother and Child on Saturday. The new show will feature renowned soprano Miriam Khalil performing pieces including Henryk Górecki’s Symphony of Sorrows, Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, in addition to Still’s piece, Mother and Child. Here’s more.
There’s more where that came from (the list below.) Have a good weekend, everyone.
