Maryland-based indie artist Snail Mail announced a new tour this week in support of her latest record Valentine, and guess what local NWA city is on the list of tour stops? Hint. It’s in the name of the website you are currently look at.

It’s Fayetteville.

The band, a solo project by guitarist and songwriter Lindsey Jordan, is set to perform at George’s Majestic Lounge on Friday, April 28.

Water From Your Eyes and Dazy are also on the bill.

Tickets to the show range from $25-$30, on sale now at George’s ticketing site.

Snail Mail has played Fayetteville before. She was in town in May of 2018 when she was fresh out of High School. She wrote her highly acclaimed 2016 EP Habit when she was just 15. Billboard has called her a “rock-prodigy.” Pitchfork at the time called her “the wisest teenage indie rocker” they knew.

Valentine was released in November of 2021 on Matador Records. Here’s what Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee had to say about the new record.

In 10 songs, written over 2019-2020 by Jordan alone, we are taken on an adrenalizing odyssey of genuine originality in an era in which “indie” music has been reduced to gentle, homogenous pop composed mostly by ghost writers. Made with careful precision, Valentine shows an artist who has chosen to take her time. The reference points are broad and psychically stirring, while the lyrics build masterfully on the foundation set by Jordan’s first record to deliver a deeper understanding of heartbreak.

It’s another On the Map Show by local promoter Roger Barrett, who has kind of been on fire with new shows lately. Other upcoming On the Map Shows include Big Thief at George’s, Feb. 10, Bill Callahan at Clapp Auditorium March 10, Water Liars and the Phlegms March 25 at George’s, Tenci at George’s April 9, Shame at George’s May 28, and Christian Lee Hutson and Fenne Lily at George’s June 9.
