Fayetteville trash and recycling pickup suspended due to icy roads

Fayetteville officials have suspended trash and recycling pickup this week after icy weather led to slick roads across the region.

The slick pavement has created safety and access concerns for heavy trucks getting into tight spaces and traversing hills, according to Peter Nierengarten, the city’s environmental director.

Residential collections will resume when road conditions allow for safe collections, Nierengarten said, and customers who have already placed bins and carts on the curb can leave them there until they are picked up.

Customers who are impacted can place extra bags next to their bins without any additional charges on their accounts, Nierengarten said.
