It looks like Alamo Drafthouse is coming to Fayetteville.

The Austin-based theater chain today added a new location to the company’s website, which shows an upcoming theater facility at 3552 Hwy 112 on the former 112 Drive-In property. [Note: The address was briefly removed after this story was published (screenshot).]

The listing confirms an earlier tip that the cinema chain was planning a Fayetteville location. The Flyer reached out to a representative from the company’s PR firm on Wednesday, who wouldn’t confirm the news, but did say “we’ll be making an announcement very soon” and “stay tuned for more.” The website update appeared shortly after that.

Plans for the development, called The Aronson, were recently submitted to the city’s development services department that show a more than 800-seat indoor movie theater, complete with a covered beer garden, small outdoor drive-in theater, and other amenities on the site where the former drive-in was located.

The plans – including the movie theaters – are consistent with what developers told City Council members when they sought to rezone the property last year.

Attorney Steve Brooks, representing developer Dave Anderson of CL Partners LLC, at the time told the council that while he couldn’t speak about specifics, the plan was to include a indoor theater and a drive-in theater somewhere on the property as part of the new mixed-use development.

In addition to the theater, the plans also include apartments, duplex and triplex buildings, a clubhouse, and restaurant/retail space that would be developed in four phases with the theater plans included in phase one.

Alamo Drafthouse first opened in Austin in 1997. Since then, the theater chain – known for serving food and drinks, a penchant for indie films, and strict code of conduct to minimize distractions for film lovers – has grown to include locations in more than 25 cities.

The Fayetteville location will be the first Alamo Drafthouse in Arkansas.
