Six a cappella groups from across the United States have been announced as finalists for the annual VoiceJam Competition, which is produced by Walton Arts Center. The competition, set to take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 15, will see these groups vying for the title of VoiceJam Champion.

The six groups include VIBE from Dallas, Texas; Walk the Line from Rockwall High School, Texas; Trillium from Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; A-Side from A&M Consolidated High School, Texas; Mind The Gap from the University of Oregon, Ore.; and Euphoria from Grand Valley State University, Mich.

A panel of judges will select the champion and also recognize the best choreography, vocal percussion, arrangement, and soloist. Additionally, audience members will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite group for the audience-choice award.

The competition is part of the VoiceJam Festival, which kicks off at 8 p.m. Friday, April 14 with a performance by professional a cappella group, Duwendé. The ensemble is known for their electrifying bass-and-beatbox-driven funk/pop style, and has sold-out shows all over the world.

Tickets for Duwendé’s performance are available for $10, while a combo ticket for both the performance and the competition can be purchased for $29 plus fees. Tickets to the competition alone are $27 plus fees.

Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Walton Arts Center Box Office on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., by phone at 479-443-5600 on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., or by visiting waltonartscenter.org.
