Walmart AMP announces move to digital tickets

The Walmart AMP is moving to a digital ticketing system beginning this year as part of a plan to improve security.

The new system will include a personalized online ticket wallet for each ticket holder that can be accessed from a smart phone with the same username or email and password used to purchase tickets for an AMP show.

Officials said digital tickets will appear in a ticket holder’s wallet immediately upon purchase, but the QR code to enter the venue won’t be accessible until within 24 hours of a performance in an effort to reduce the spread of counterfeit tickets. In some cases, an artist might specify a different timeline for the release of the QR codes, according to a news release.

Similar to other digital ticketing systems, when attending a show, patrons should open their ticket wallet, tap on a performance to view the QR entry code and then show it to an usher for scanning. If the patron has multiple tickets to be scanned, they can swipe left to access each additional ticket.

Officials said the new system is being rolled out now and current ticket holders should expect to receive an email by March 31 with detailed instructions on how to log in. All purchases made after March 31 will include confirmation emails with a direct link to the ticket wallet.
