A Korean fried chicken restaurant chain will soon expand into Fayetteville.

Bonchon, known for its hand battered, double-fried Korean fried chicken, earlier this month announced plans for two separate multi-unit franchise deals in Arkansas that will include the Fayetteville location, a Bentonville restaurant, plus three stores in Jonesboro and Little Rock.

The Fayetteville restaurant is franchised by Jeff Poole, according to a QSR news release. Poole attended the University of Arkansas and comes from a family of restaurant operators.

“Starting to work in the restaurant industry with my dad at the age of 12 taught me what it takes to keep a business like this going from operations, to having the right employees, to a menu that has a little bit of something for everybody,” said Poole in a statement. “I look forward to getting back to my roots with this new venture with Bonchon.”

The restaurant’s name translates from Korean to English as “my hometown.” Bonchon has over 120 locations across the country, and more than 400 stores globally.

The release did not give a specific location for the Fayetteville restaurant.
