Have y’all ever seen someone use giant excavators to move telephone pole-sized knitting needles and giant yarn to knit a gigantic American flag in public before?

I mean. Several of you probably have, but if you haven’t, you could see exactly that in NWA this summer.

The Momentary will host artist Dave Cole for an installation called The Knitting Machine on 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4 as the artist attempts to put the finishing touches on the world’s largest knitted American Flag on the contemporary art space’s grounds.

The artist will begin working ont he project on July 1, and expects to finish the final “purl one, knit two” stitches on the 4th of July, according to the Momentary website.

Visitors are encouraged to check out the progress on the installation any time between July 1-4, and the flag will remain on display through July 6.

The event is free to attend and open to the public. The Momentary is located at 507 SE E St in Bentonville.
