Fayetteville band Memphis Pencils recently received a $300 grant from local arts organization Art Amiss to help cover professional mastering costs for their upcoming album.

A longtime Fayetteville musician and socialist activist will challenge a two-time incumbent for a seat on the City Council this year.
The band is planning an album release party for their new 10-track record, “It’s Midnight, I’m Not Famous Yet,” on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Stage 18 just off the downtown square.
We got in touch with Martin from the band to talk a bit about the new record and some other things they’ve been up to, and he was nice enough to answer some questions for us.
The band will release the 11-pack of tracks at a release party set for Saturday, Oct. 4 at Smoke & Barrel Tavern with local songwriter Dana Louise and Springfield, MO band, The Too’s.
