John Green (Courtesy)New York Times bestselling author and YouTuber John Green will speak in downtown Fayetteville next month during a moderated Q&A session as part of the University of Arkansas Distinguished Lectures Committee’s series.
The free, but ticketed event is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Fayetteville Town Center on the downtown square.
Green has sold more than 24 million copies in 55 languages of his young adult novels, including “Looking for Alaska,” “Turtles All the Way Down,” “Paper Towns,” “An Abundance of Katherines” and “The Fault in Our Stars.”
He has recently spoken out against book bans, particularly those that prohibit his books from being on library shelves.
Green is also well known for his career as an online content creator along with his brother, Hank Green. Together, they created the YouTube channels vlogbrothers and Crash Course, the latter of which provides free educational videos on a variety of topics.
Ticket reservations for UA students, faculty and staff will be available online starting at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30. Any remaining tickets will be available for the general public starting at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, according to the university.
A livestream will also be available on the UA Productions YouTube channel.
The Distinguished Lectures Committee in recent years has hosted guests like Bob Goff, Angela Davis, Aly Raisman, Gloria Steinem, Tan France, Jennette McCurdy, Venus Williams and Tyler James Williams.
