The decade that gave us “Survivor”, “Who wants to Marry a Millionaire” and “American Idol,” also gave us groundbreaking, original, and wonderful television that we deeply needed and still appreciate.

- About By Wayne Bell
- Born and raised in central Arkansas, Vilonia just wasn’t doing it for me. Therefore, in 2003, I moved to Fayetteville for my Master's Degree. In 2004, after finishing my MA, I had a temporary moment of stupidity and moved to Florida. However, like the mafia, I returned to my beloved Fayetteville in 2006 and have lived here ever since.I live with my partner Daniel and our little dog Charlee. You can almost always catch us at Little Bread or Hammontree's...or the best of them all...our kitchen. I couldn’t be prouder to call Fayetteville...home! Early in 2009, I finally purchased my own little piece of the town...deck and all. Check out my page at wayneskitchentable.com. Finally, "Culture Club" is also a regular segment on NPR KUAF's Ozarks at Large-Tuesday Radio Program. You can listen to it live at noon and 7 p.m. on KUAF 91.3 FM or at kuaf.org.
Top Ten Tonys of the 2000s
Given that the 90s gave us great musical theatre like “Rent” and “The Lion King,” the new decade had a lot to live up to.
Top Ten Grammys of the 2000s
The thing about the Grammys is that they are sort of like your weird aunt that shows up for the holidays. All you know is that she is random and doesn’t seem to make much sense.
Top Ten Oscars of the 2000s
I plan on taking on the Tonys, Emmys and Grammys in the next few weeks, but I thought I would start by examining Oscar’s chosen few from the past decade.
Film Review – Up in the Air
If there was a time capsule that could represent 2009 as a whole, it would have to include “Up in the Air.”
Film Review – Nine
In the end, it’s still that hollow musical that came out in the early eighties. It’s fun, it’s enjoyable and it’s beautiful. But at best, it’s more like a 6 or a 6.5.
Film Review – Avatar
This was a movie that many have waited years for. This is also a movie that many wanted to be brilliant despite the fact that the trailer disappointed.
Oscar derby…Where we stand?
I thought I’d take a moment before the holidays to access where we stand in the race and which films deserve your immediate viewing.
And the Grammy goes to WHAT?
The Grammy is the highest level of achievement that a recording artist can get. The Grammys reward close to one hundred different categories ranging from pop to polka, and everything in between.
Film Review – Precious
Let me go on record and say that everything you have heard about the movie is true. It is brilliant!
Film Review – An Education
“An Education” is a nice, little (just about an hour and a half) movie with a lot to say. This is a pre-Beatles time where everyone is still buttoned up and stubborn.
Black Friday Survival Guide
I always acknowledge that I look at Black Friday as survival of the fittest. I think it requires both great patience and determination.
Five to be thankful for
I thought I would take a few lines to celebrate five pieces of entertainment (not film, yet…DAMNIT) that we should be thankful for.
Five to wait for
A sampling of films that should be highly praised and may even get the chance to dance around with that little golden guy.
