Press Release | First Night Fayetteville to go on hiatus this year

Unedited press release from First Night Fayetteville

First Night in Fayetteville has been a 12 year New Year’s Eve tradition celebrating community and the arts in a family friendly environment. The First Night event was born on the Fayetteville Square in 1998 and expanded to the Northwest Arkansas Mall for the 2009 and 2010 events. Education programs were added in 2008 and brought arts integrated programs to schools throughout the region, culminating in an array of interactive community visual and performing art in recent years.

Due to the limited capacity of the 2010/2011 Board of Directors, the event will not be held this year. It is a natural progression of many non-profits–especially event and volunteer based organizations–to declare a hiatus for event revision, as well as to rebuild the volunteer base. First Night is saddened to be unable to provide the community with a New Year’s Eve celebration this year, but we ask interested folks to step forward now to help ensure the future of First Night by becoming involved in the planning an execution of future event. We see this time as an opportunity to build upon our past successes and event favorites, while opening up to new possibilities for showcasing the arts and creating new traditions.
