Fayetteville’s Waste Collection Running on Expanded Saturday Schedule

Fayetteville, AR – The Solid Waste and Recycling Division is running limited residential trash on Saturday, February 12th. The subdivisions of Indian Springs, Barrington, Covington Park, and River Meadows will have their trash picked up as these areas have improved road conditions, wide streets with curbs, and flat terrain.

All residential routes will resume on their normal schedules next week. After normally scheduled Monday and Tuesday routes are picked up, portions of Thursday and Wednesday routes will be run in an effort to help catch up these areas. On Monday, we will also have rear loading trash trucks working the Thursday and Wednesday routes collecting extra bags in order to pick up extra bags on the street. Cart service and recycling for Wednesday and Thursday routes will run on their normal days.

Commercial stops on the cleared main roads will be run on Saturday if the dumpsters can be accessed. Dumpsters cannot be collected if there is snow piled in front of them or if they are in hilly or shaded areas which are too slick for the trucks to access. Please make every effort to have areas in front of dumpsters clear for service collections. Any overflow of bagged trash should be placed to the side of the dumpster rather than in front of the dumpster. We greatly appreciate your patience as we deal with these extreme snow events.

We will post daily press releases with updates on our web site: www.accessfayetteville.org.

Residents who have Wednesday and Thursday collections are encouraged to leave their trash carts and recycling bins out as every effort will be made to collect their routes when possible. With warmer temperatures predicted for next week all routes should be able to catch up.

For the weeks of February 7th and 14th there will be no extra bag charges applied for those routes that were missed the previous week, and customers do not need to use extra bag stickers.

The Transfer Station will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 12th.

Due to the increased trash collection required, there will be no yard waste collection the weeks of February 7th or 14th, 2011.
