Veterans Memorial Park Gets a New Entry

The vehicular entrance to Veterans Memorial Park located at 1350 E. Zion Road is changing. A new entry to the park has been constructed as an extension of Vantage Avenue. Vehicles will now enter via Vantage Avenue, which travels north through the newly constructed Park Center development. The existing park road has been converted into a counter clockwise one-way loop. The old entry will be closed to vehicular traffic and designated for pedestrians and cyclists only.

Sharrows are also located along the new Vantage Avenue into the park. A sharrow is a road lane marking that shows a stencil of a bicycle with two chevron markings above it. The purpose of a sharrow is to remind people to share the road when driving a car or riding a bike in Fayetteville. The sharrow is designed for use in areas too narrow for a separate bike lane. Share the Road signs accompany the sharrow symbols.
