A new version of the Broadway classic is coming to Fayetteville this summer for its only performance in the US before an international tour.
The new production of A Chorus Line will kick off its upcoming tour with technical rehearsals here in town before a handful of exclusive performances June 24-26 at Walton Arts Center.

From the pen of legendary composer Marvin Hamlisch comes the Tony Award® and Pulitzer Prize-winning singular sensation, A Chorus Line; and it’s headed to Walton Arts Center for four shows only. The original production was developed, directed and choreographed by the renowned Michael Bennett, and it went on to earn nine Tony Awards.
The story of A Chorus Line focuses on the audition process for dancers vying for roles in a Broadway show. The director cuts the group down to a select few hopefuls. During the process, each dancer is asked to tell their story through the series of witty, emotional and often relatable songs.
The new show is directed by Baayork Lee, who’s life inspired the creation of the character Connie Wong whom she played in the original 1975 production. Now, more than 35 years later, Lee will direct and choreograph this new international tour.
“Even now after 46 years, I am so honored that I was able to give Asian women a part on Broadway, on tours, in repertory theater and in high schools. That’s what I’m really proud of; that I can give them representation,” Lee said.
The shows are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 26.
Tickets to the show range from $33-62 plus fees, and can be purchased at waltonartscenter.org.
