Award-winning children’s author Cynthia Levinson to speak in Fayetteville

Award-winning children’s author Cynthia Levinson will speak at several locations in Fayetteville this week.

Levinson’s 2012 book, We’ve Got a Job: The 1963 Birmingham Children’s March, received the IRA Young Adult Nonfiction Award and the Jane Addams Book Award and was named a New York Times Book Review “Editors’ Choice.”

Levinson specializes in nonfiction for and about young people. Her nonfiction articles have been published in some of the most respected children’s magazines, including Appleseeds, Calliope, Cobblestone, Dig, Faces, and Odyssey.

Thursday, Sept. 26
Levinson will give a reading and sign books at 1:30 p.m. Thursday inside the University of Arkansas Bookstore, 616 N. Garland Ave. on the University of Arkansas campus. Her books will be available for purchase. Parking is available on-site at the Garland Avenue parking garage.

Later in the day, Levinson will give a presentation on We’ve Got a Job at 6:30 p.m. in the Wal-Mart Storytime Room at the Fayetteville Public Library, 401 W. Mountain Street. The presentation will be followed by a book signing, and Levinson’s books will be available for purchase.

Friday, Sept. 27
Levinson will present a “readers’ theater” to the student body of Holt Middle School at 8:15 a.m. Friday in the school cafeteria. Holt students will be chosen to act out dramatic roles of the script version of We’ve Got a Job.
