The annual tree giveaway is coming up next month in Fayetteville.

Free trees and shrubs will be available for Fayetteville residents on Saturday, Oct. 14 Nov. 4 at the 25th annual Celebration of Trees event in the Spring Street Parking Garage, located at 221 N School Ave. in Fayetteville.

The event begins at 6:45 a.m. when city staff and members of the Urban Forestry Advisory Board will hand out up to two free trees and shrubs per resident.

Species available this year include Willow Oak, Service Berry, Rusty Blackhaw, American Holly, Burr Oak, Wild Hydrangea, Shagback Hickory, Bald Cypress, Low Bush Blueberry, Buckeye, and Paw Paw.

Trees and shrubs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the event will last until all available trees have been given away.

Attendees should enter the parking deck from Spring Street, and exit on N. School Avenue, officials said.

Each person should be prepared to show proof of Fayetteville residency, such as a recent utility bill or some other form of ID with a current address.
