‘Goosebumps’ author R.L. Stine to appear at True Lit Festival at Fayetteville Public Library

Just in time for Halloween, a writer of spooky stories for kids for more than 30 years will make an appearance at Fayetteville Public Library.

The library will host Goosebumps series author R. L. Stine for an author talk at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 in the library’s event center as part of the annual True Lit Festival.

Over his career, Stine has sold more than 400 million copies of his books in the US, and is the Guinness Book of World Records holder as the bestselling series author in history.

Stine also publishes novels for adults now, including his recent work Superstitious, The Sitter, Eye Candy, and Red Rain.

In addition to the author talk, Stine will be on hand to sign books after his on-stage appearance.

The event is one of several planned as part of the True Lit Festival, a collaboration between the library, Fayetteville Public Schools, Walton Arts Center, University of Arkansas Program in Creative Writing and Translation, and Altrusa International of Fayetteville. The festival will take place over two weeks from Oct. 14-26, and will include a host of other author events, panel discussions, children’s story times, and more. Other featured authors appearing at the event include New York Times bestsellers Neal Shusterman (Challenger Deep, Scythe) and Daniel Jose Older (Flood City, The High Republic Adventures

The R.L. Stine appearance on Oct. 26 is free to attend and open to the public, though space is limited. Admission will be available on a first-come, first served basis. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
