Lake Fayetteville cleanup event set for April 15

It’s time for another Lake Fayetteville Clean Up event.

Lake Fayetteville Watershed Partnership, Illinois River Watershed Partnership, the City of Fayetteville, and others are seeking volunteers for a cleanup of the park and lake area around Lake Fayetteville from 9:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 15.

Officials are seeking help to clean up litter around the park, particularly around the banks of the lake.Those with access to a canoe or kayak are also encouraged to help out with litter that is easiest to pick up from the water. Those who are interested in helping out from the water can email [email protected] to RSVP.

There are two check in locations for volunteers; the Lake Fayetteville Study Center at 599 E. Lakevie Drive in Springdale; and the Lake Fayetteville Marina at 1330 Lake Fayetteville Rd. in Fayetteville.

Cleanup supplies and snacks will be provided, and volunteers are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes or rain/muck boots and a refillable water bottle.
