Midtown Music Showcase announces 2013 lineup

Last time we heard from the folks behind the Midtown Music Showcase, they were looking for musicians to play the Aug. 17 party in the parking lot at Evelyn Hills Shopping Center.

It looks like they’ve found them.

Organizers Tuesday announced the music lineup for the event, which will include locals Damn Arkansan, Flight Machine, Flipoff Pirates, James Ray Dickard, and National Park Radio.

The Midtown Music Showcase, organized by the businesses in the Evelyn Hills Shopping Center, began last year with a goal to raise money for a local organization and to help revitalize the midtown area. Organizers changed the name of the event from Evelyn cHills Festival to the Midtown Music Showcase this year to reflect the broader mission of the event.

Proceeds from this year’s festival will benefit the Fayetteville Public Schools Outback, a local food pantry and clothing closet for students enrolled at Fayetteville Public Schools.

The bands selected to perform will be able to compete for prizes at the event, including a live-recording time from Insomniac Studios, a feature on a local radio show, and more.

In addition to the music, the event will also feature food, kid friendly activities, carnival-style games, and more.
