The largest puppet-related event of the year in Fayetteville is coming up this month.

Of course, we’re talking about Puppets in the Park, the free family-friendly event and celebration of all things puppet held annually at Wilson Park.

This year’s event is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, and will include puppet shows, crafts, juggling, live music, and a puppet parade.

New this year, a “Puppet Slam” event intended for adults is scheduled for the evening before Puppets in the Park at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13 at Path Outfitters. The Puppet Slam will feature contemporary, short-form puppet theatre performed by a host of artists “ranging from hilarious to profound and everything in between.” Performers include Willi Carlisle, Karen Konnerth, Jan Wolfe with Wolfe at the Door, and Jo Ann Kaminsky. Admission is $10 at the door.
