TheatreSquared announces 2010-11 season

Four new productions, the return of the Arkansas New Play Festival, and a new “Pay What You Can” program were announced as part of TheatreSquared’s fifth season this week.

The season opens in September with an adaption of John Buchan’s spy novel (and later, an Alfred Hitchcock cinematic thriller) “The 39 Steps.” In December, T2 presents a Christmas show, with “Every Christmas Story Every Told.” February brings the World Premiere of a new play commissioned by TheatreSquared and developed over two years at the Arkansas New Play Fest, “Sundown Town,” by emerging playwright Kevin Cohea, and T2 will conclude their fifth season of new performances with 2009 Tony Award for Best New Play, Neil LaBute’s “Reasons to Be Pretty.”

All four productions will be on sale beginning May 21 starting at $74, or less than $19 a play. T2 will also debut a new program where they will open one preview performance of each production on a “pay what you can” basis, and the will also continue their 30 under 30 program for the second year, setting asside 30 $10 tickets for every performance for patrons under 30 years of age.

TheatreSquared will present its third annual Arkansas New Play Fest in May of 2011, with dates and titles for the celebration of new works still to be finalized.
