Walmart Neighborhood Market opened their third location in Fayetteville on Wednesday at 660 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
The new store will be the city’s third Neighborhood Market. Other locations include the Kantz Center near Crossover Road and Mission Boulevard, and the Forest Hills development near Wedington Drive and Salem Road.
Walmart officials must now present large-scale development plans to planning commissioners for approval before moving forward with any construction work.
The Fayetteville City Council will soon decide whether to rezone about 5 acres along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard where a Walmart Neighborhood Market is planned.
City Council members will have the final say on whether land is rezoned where a Walmart grocery store and gasoline station is planned near the Mill District in south Fayetteville.
Walmart is listed as a developer requesting a rezoning of 6.16 acres of property on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Hill and Government avenues.
