The intersection of Block Avenue and Spring Street will be closed this week as part of the Block Avenue enhancement project.
The City of Fayetteville’s Transportation Division is removing the deteriorated asphalt from the intersection and replacing it with red-patterned concrete. Brick inlays salvaged from a recent Dickson Street improvement project will be utilized in the pedestrian crosswalks.
The intersection was closed Monday morning and will re-open at 5 p.m. Friday, June 11.
To minimize the disruption to area businesses, both sections of Block Avenue from Meadow Street to Spring Street and Dickson Street to Spring Street will be two-way traffic for the duration of the construction.
Spring Street between Church Avenue and East Avenue will also be closed to thru traffic due to the work at the Block Avenue intersection.
Temporary signs have been placed in the area to inform motorists.
